CCB Accounts

The first major new service we are implementing are CCB accounts. These accounts will be provided to all faculty and staff of the CCB and will serve as the foundation of all future improvements.

We will be using Microsoft's Active Directory to administer these accounts. Active Directory is the integrated, distributed directory service that ties together many applications and services that previously required a separate, distinct userid/password.

What does this mean to you?

By using your CCB account you will be able to use a single username and password to access all of the CCB's services. This includes:

  • Local Computer Access
  • Network Shares
  • NFS Shares
  • Internal Website Access (Umanage, Chem-Web)
  • Email
  • Wireless Access
These CCB accounts also apply to Linux and Mac OSX users. All users with NIS accounts will be migrated to a CCB account that will work across platforms. This allows the IT staff to effectively manage a great many applications without forcing our users to remember many passwords.
