RU-Doo-102 Overview

The department’s Video conferencing room is equipped with a Polycom HDX 8000 hardware codec used for connecting to similarly equipped rooms for an interactive session for classes, meetings, training, and conferences. The room offers a single HD projector and utilizes a Picture in Picture (PiP) display for video sessions.

Currently the video conferencing unit is only connected via an IP network, so ISDN calls are not supported. However the Polycom hardware leverages the latest codecs and supports point to point and multi-point connections up to a resolution of 720p.

The room has hardwired connections for laptops for sharing content across video conferences, or for in room presentations. There is also a networked PC with internet access loaded with Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat reader as well as wireless access which requires a Rutgers NETid to access.

Hosting or Joining a Video Session

RU-DOO102 is capable of both joining and hosting an interactive video session. The Polycom unit is registered in the Rutgers Gatekeeper which allows for easier connections using a phone number style address as opposed to an IP Address.
